Performance analysis of a server for facsimile communication networks (English)

A concrete modeling procedure concerned with telecommunication network services is described and the authors come out with a simplified but yet detailed enough tandem network to evaluate performance of the system with respect to throughput (system oriented) and waiting time (customer oriented). The system described is a function unit which dissolves multiaddress delivery services into individual messages, which send the group information to the individual members of the groups.NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEThis extraction operation of the first tandem node is limited in each operation step by the actual available capacity of the second tandem node, which delivers as a multichannel system the individual messages. Usually any multiaddress message has to be operated several times, and to increase fairness a round-robin protocol is scheduled at the first node.NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEThe authors derive algorithms for determining steady state probabilities and a diffusion approximation for the mean of the waiting times.
