Stancu in 1966 defined a family of positive approximation polynomials generalizing the Bernstein polynomials, and obtained their basic properties. Here the author states a few direct and inverse theorems about the degree of approximation of the Stancu polynomials as it is related to the Ditzian-Totik modulus of continuity.
