Recently, \textit{S. B. Joshi} and \textit{H. M. Srivastava} [Publ. Elektroteh. Fak., Univ. Beograd. Ser. Mat. 7, 76-84 (1996; Zbl 0889.30008)] introduced and investigated two subclasses of analytic and univalent functions with negative coefficients. Here, in the paper under review, the author presents several further properties of each of these two function classes. In particular, he gives five closure theorems and two distortion-type theorems involving the fractional integral operator (with the Gauss hypergeometric function kernel), which was introduced earlier by \textit{H. M. Srivastava}, \textit{M. Saigo} and \textit{S. Owa} [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 131, No. 2, 412-420 (1988; Zbl 0628.30014)].NEWLINENEWLINEFor the entire collection see [Zbl 0970.00018].
