The effect of distribution in space in Ostwald ripening (English)
0 references
The authors consider a two-phase system in a stage of evolution known as Ostwald ripening or alternatively called coarsening or aging. In this stage the system is far from equilibrium and evolves under quasistatic dynamics when the chemical potential satisfies the Laplace equation off the union of the boundaries of finite number of particles, and the mean curvature with normal velocity is given. They study the effect of neighbors on coarsening and show that the rate of a particle varies with the size of its neighbors and increases when the size of the neighboring particle exceeds the average. The relative capacity of the minority phase and the basic quantity have to be estimated.NEWLINENEWLINEFor the entire collection see [Zbl 0964.00038].
