Gauge-theoretic equations for harmonic maps into symmetric spaces (English)

The authors show that the characteristic of harmonic maps of Riemann surfaces into symmetric spaces - viewed as extensions of the equations of harmonic maps into Lie groups, is that their equations have a gauge-theoretic formulation. The paper contains as well: the construction of the moduli spaces of solutions, the deformation of solutions, the local structure of moduli spaces and weak compactness theorems of moduli spaces, including a removability theorem for isolated singularities of solutions to the gauge-theoretic equations.NEWLINENEWLINEFor the entire collection see [Zbl 0953.00035].
