Qualitative methods in nonlinear dynamics: novel approaches to Liapunov's matrix functions (English)

This book is a treatise on new developments concerning matrix Lyapunov functions for studying the stability of dynamical systems. The method is based on a hierarchical decomposition of the possibly large scale system. This has repercussions on the associated matrix Lyapunov function.NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEAfter the preliminaries, the continuous-time (possibly non-autonomous) case is treated in chapter two, the discrete-time case is presented in chapter three, the impulsive case is the focus of chapter four and the last chapter is devoted to applications in which the stability domain is augmented by the introduced functions.NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEThere is an extensive list of references and a subject index at the end. This book will be very useful for scientists studying the stability of systems, especially those confronted with large scale systems.
