Linear elastic waves (English)
0 references
This book contains a description of waves in the framework of linear elasticity. In order to avoid an intricate formalism, the author writes the book in Cartesian coordinates, and formulates the basic governing equations by the use of tensor calculus. The aim of the book is to give an insight into fundamental processes occuring in wave field -- propagation and scattering. The specific tools used in this frame are the plane wave representation and asymptotic expansions. Additionally, we remark a convenient for reader way to cite the references: not only the papers are accompanied by usual indication (year, page, volume), but also the books (classical or recent) are accompanied by the pages where the reader can find the mentioned material.NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEContents: Preface; 1. Simple wave solutions; 2. Kinematical description of waves; 3. Reflection, refraction, and interfacial waves; 4. Green's tensor and integral representations; 5. Radiation and diffraction; 6. Guided waves and dispersion; Index.NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEWe think, the present volume is an excellent textbook for a deeper understanding of waves in linear elasticity.
