A differential description of dry friction (English)

To simplify solution of problems with dry friction, it is suggested to model friction by a mechanical element containing the so-called ``couple of friction''. In the framework of the model, the familiar hysteresis loop is replaced by a parallelogram. Equations of the friction model are analyzed, estimation of energy dissipation is performed. Using the model, three test examples are considered. According to the criterion of dissipated energy, a good agreement of the model and exact solutions is demonstrated.
