Modeling chaotic and spatially extended systems (English)

The paper is organized as follows. In the first section, ``Attractor reconstruction and local modeling'', the authors propose two local constant prediction schemes, absolute averaging and integrated averaging. The performance of the one-step-ahead-cross-validation is evaluated through the average mean square error and the normalized multi-step-ahead-cross-validation error. The next subject is related to the search of fast nearest neighbors; it is followed by some numerical examples and by general conclusions.
