Experimental study of supercritical equilibrium states of shallow elliptically paraboloidal shells under external pressure (English)

The shells used in experiments were produced by spraying copper from an alundum crucible in vacuum on a precision substrate. Shells of toroidal and spherical shapes were used. Measured in experiments were deflection of the shell at its vertex and pressure sustaining the shell in a given equilibrium state. In the paper experimental diagrams of loading are compared with theoretical ones. An empiric relationship between the shell deflection at its vertex and the concentrated force is deduced.
