Development of a plastic domain in isotropic strip with circular hole under linear external load (English)

Under tension, a plastic zone is formed near the hole in elastic strip. Stresses in the elastic zone obey Hooke law, stresses in the plastic zone obey the Mises condition and are continuous at the elastic-plastic interface. Plastic zone does not affect stresses near the strip boundary. Stresses in elastic zone are found analytically. Equation of the elastic-plastic interface is found by the method of small parameter (ratio of the hole diameter to the strip width). Depending on values of physical and geometrical parameters of the problem, plastic zone can completely or partially enclose the hole or be split into two or three zones. Conditions when these cases occur are formulated.
