Influence of geometric characteristics of basin on parameters of free and forced waves (English)

Influence of basin walls on forced vibrations of liquid in a two-dimensional basin with parabolically varying depth is investigated. Incompressible inviscid fluid filling the basin is loaded by periodic in time pressure. On the basis of theory of long waves, components of velocity and elevation of free surface are described by a system of first-order partial differential equations, that takes into account Coriolis forces. This system is solved numerically by Runge-Kutta method. Numerical solution is compared with the analytic one for a basin with depth vanishing at its contour. Inaccuracies in determination of wave field characteristics resulting from side walls, are estimated.
