Influence of admixtures on subsurface inhomogenuity and strength of layer in the course of its saturation (English)

A technique of solution of quasistatic locally-gradient mechanodiffusion problem is suggested. The full system of governing equations consists of equilibrium and compatibility equations, equations of balance for mass admixtures and for mass-center continuum, constitutive equations, the kinetic equation and Cauchy relations. The influence of deformation on densities of solid solution components is neglected. As a result, the problem is split into two successive problems. At the first step, the distribution of solid solution components is determined. Then the displacement field, stresses and strains caused by the presence of admixtures and by the external load are found. A problem for a layer under known distribution of chemical potential at its surface is considered on the basis of the suggested model. Using a classical criterion, the strength and size effect for the limiting strength are investigated using analytical methods. Plots of reduced surface stresses are presented.
