Weak reflections in concrete categories (English)

The author gives a characterisation of weak reflections in concrete categories with dual space functors. In fact, he gives a slightly more general result: Given an arbitrary morphism from an object of a concrete category to an object of a subcategory, then, under certain conditions, this morphism can be extended to the bidual of its domain. As applications he has the completion of normed spaces, Stone-Čech compactification and the abstract Stone theorem.
