The results of experimental investigations of the temperature field transformations within a laminar boundary layer over a flat plate are presented. Two types of the temperature distributions (stepwise and periodical) are studied. It is shown that the isotherms turn within the boundary layer, and vertical component of temperature gradient arises. The experimental data characterizing the amplitude distribution of disturbance over the boundary layer are obtained. It is found that the penetration depth of the temperature disturbances depends on the wave length. It is also demonstrated that the boundary layer possesses filtrating properties. Formation of thin layered structures with high temperature gradients (high gradient layer) is discovered.
