Reinolds criteria and the energy of flows in cylindrical pipes (English)
0 references
The paper is devoted to the key problem of turbulent motions concerning origin of turbulence, i. e. transition from a laminar flow to turbulent one. In this paper this problem is discussed by considering the flow in a circular pipe. The author considers energy production and dissipation in the pipe and concludes that their ratio essentially influences the transition to turbulent regime. On this basis, the critical Reynolds number is calculated for a circular pipe.
