Profile of the free surface of wave-like near critical flows and solitary-like solutions of some differential equations (English)

The author investigates the wave-like near critical flows starting from the energy or momentum relationships. As a result, a generalized differential equation for the free surface is derived and solitary wave solutions are found which include flow parameters of the initial section of the flows. Conditions for the existence of solitary and cnoidal waves are explained. The theoretical profile is compared with experimental data, and a classification of stable and permanent near critical flows with smooth wave-like surface is given.
