Perspectives of the methods of hydrodynamic drag reduction (English)

The author presents a brief review of some publications on hydrodynamic drag reduction, which have been initiated in USSR and further developed in other countries. The methods of action on the boundary layer, the use of MHD effects, the reduction of the wave drag and shape drag are considered. Possible ways of further development of methods of hydrodynamic drag reduction and their feasible applications to vehicles are analyzed.
