Interaction of liquid metal with rotating magnetic field (English)

The paper considers the effect of induced rotating magnetic field on a behaviour of electrically conducting fluid (liquid metal) in a cylindrical vessel. Also, the case is investigated ofrotating magnetic field with an arbitrary number of pole pairs. Theoretical considerations are based on a semiempirical model of ''external friction''. Optimal values of the frequency of rotating magnetic field and sizes of flow region are established. It is shown that theoretical and experimental data for different regimes are in satisfactory agreement.
