The analysis of two-dimensional vortex structure interaction (Q2755229)

The analysis of numerical and experimental data on mixing processes of a passive impurity in the presence of non-symmetric interaction (exchange interaction) of two-dimensional vortex structures in a density stratified fluid is carried out. The comparative analysis of experimental data and numerical results shows that the viscous effects during the interaction of vortex structures do not render an appreciable influence on the mixing processes during a whole interaction. The estimation of a period of time when the model of ideal fluid can be used for studying the mixing processes in real fluids, is given.
