The authors study a variational approach, proposed by E. De Giorgi being based on the notion of generalized minimizing movements, towards the evolution of hypersurfaces by mean curvature for the case of a Dirichlet boundary datum. Under suitable geometric assumptions on the initial solid they obtain existence results within the class of generalized minimizing movements.
