Mathematics of genome analysis (English)

This short textbook is based on lectures of the author about mathematical problems arising in genome analysis and sequencing. The book starts with an introduction to biochemical properties of DNA and the problem of decomposing DNA with restriction enzymes. The second chapter considers the problem to recompose DNA from restriction fragments. Chapter 3 deals with statistical properties of DNA sequences and considers local properties as well as long range properties. The important topic of sequence comparison is discussed in chapter 4. The final chapter 5 studies the thermal behavior of DNA, e.g., the dynamics of separation of a DNA double strand. NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEThe book is a nice introduction to mathematical and statistical problems in genome analysis and will be of interest for students and professional mathematicians.
