Technical fluid mechanics. Theory and practice (English)

The book presents the most interesting chapters of fluid mechanics, especially those which allow technical applications. It is based on author's course held at the Technical High School at Lübeck, where the author is the head of the Laboratory of Fluid Mechanics and Machines. The book's contents are divided in nine chapters with the following directions: physical and mathematical foundations of fluid dynamics; stationary motion of compressible and incompressible fluids; stationary flows around bodies; flow with free boundaries, and nonstationary flows. The main technical applications considered in the book are: the floating and its stability, hydraulic press, laminar and turbulent flows, cavities, flows through orifices, gas-dynamical acoustics, boundary layer flows, flows around airfoils, diffusors, nozzles etc. An appendix contains tables and diagrams with physical characteristics of fluids mainly met in practice.NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEFrom all presented above we think that this clearly written book could be of interest to the students and practising engineers.
