This dissertation investigates a project management approach to software development from a perspective of small and medium sized enterprises. NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINESoftware Change Management (SCM) provides means for supporting software change processes. In this dissertation SCM is extended by ideas from general product management to cover areas such as marketing and delivery. A definition of a Software Product Management (SPM) model is given. Results of experiments in three SME software companies are presented and ideas for the improvement of SCM proposed. NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEChapter 1 gives an introduction. Chapter 2 summarizes the state of the art of SCM. Chapter 3 presents the framework of the experiments. Chapter 4 shows the example solution for the SPM problem of choosing an SCM tool and a product support system. Chapter 5 gives conclusions. The thesis also contains reprints of 5 original research papers.
