This extremely readable survey lecture discusses, among other issues and through a chronological description, how different mathematical tools have been used to formulate different physical theories (e.g., cosmology, heat, relativity, etc.) [p. 42]. At the time of its presentation, the year 2000, International Year of Mathematics, it was highly important to promote the knowledge and use of mathematics throughout the world to understand the nature where we live [p. 5-6].
