The textbook starts with a joint description of C- and C++-constructs and their use in examples. Besides some advantages this approach has also its drawback, e.g., the reader could have the impression C and C++ are only variants of the same language. In the same way object-oriented programming seems to be of minor importance. In the following chapters modularization, selected data structures together with selected algorithms, object-oriented programming, generic programming constructs, the standard template library, and software modeling using UML are treated. The book is well suited for beginners and students. Language constructs are described in connection with examples and hints at pitfalls and good programming style. Unfortunately, there are some incorrect formulations as, e.g., ``Objekt ist in etwa synonym mit Variable'' or ``Objekte abgeleiteter Klassen können Objekten ihrer Basisklassen zugewiesen werden'', and a lot of misprints.
