Stochastic orderings of convex/concave-type on an arbitrary grid (English)

The authors introduce several new classes of stochastic orders for comparing discrete random variables that take on values in a finite set of nonnegative numbers that need not be equidistant. These orders correspond to particular cases of integral stochastic orders which are generated by different classes of functions of convex/concave-type on that set. The main question addressed in the paper is how an addition of a point to the set can affect the extension of such stochastic orders. It is shown that a crucial factor is the location of the additional point in relation to the other points in the set.
