The theory of graphs. Translated from the 1958 French edition by Alison Doig. (English)

This is a re-edition of a 1962 translation (Zbl 0097.38903) of a 1958 French edition (Zbl 0088.15404). Despite being quite old, the text could still be of value to anyone interested in the basics of graph theory. It is very carefully and precisely written, and it covers most of the topics typically covered in the first course at about the right depth. However, although the text contains a large number of interesting examples and applications, it contains no exercises. This makes it less suitable for a course adoption. Also, quite naturally, most of the topics covered have advanced since the original publication, and the language is slightly dated. The book could therefore be most likely used by someone with interest in the history of graph theory or as a supplementary reading.
