Surface waves on a cavity in a semiinfinite elastic medium (Q2759347)

The author considers a new problem of wave propagation along a vertical semi-infinite cylindrical cavity in an elastic half-space. It is assumed that the vertical harmonic axisymmetric load is applied to the half-space boundary. The problem is reduced to the integral equation which is analysed by the method of contour integration. The solutions are expressed by integrals containing the trigonometrical kernels and Weber transform kernels. The dispersion equations are derived and analysed. Also, the dependence of surface wave velocity on the frequency of applied load is investigated.
