Determination of characteristics of rubber shock absorbers (English)

The plane problem of deformation of a rubber layer of finite length \(a\) by a rigid stamp is considered. Displacements are approximated by trigonometric functions of longitudinal coordinate and by powers of thickness coordinate. Normal and tangential contact stresses are approximated by the following expansions in the longitudinal coordinate: \(p= p_i(1-x_1^2)^{\alpha_i}\), \(\tau= \tau_i x_1^{\beta_i}\). Numerical solution of the problem is realized using the Lagrange variational principle and the method of collocations. Numerical examples are considered, dependence of the pressing force on the parameter \(a/h\) (\(h\) is the layer thickness) is studied for different, close to 0.5, values of Poisson ratio of material.
