Hydrodynamics of limitedly steep wind waves (English)

The nonlinear boundary-value problem describing propagation of finite amplitude wind waves in ideal incompressible fluid is solved by so-called semi-inversion technique. The wave profile is assumed to be known while fields of velocity and hydrodynamic pressure are to be determined in the course of solution. Independent physical variables are replaced by fast phase, slow longitudinal coordinate and slow transverse coordinate and evolution time of wave group. A small parameter characterizing degree of modulation of wave group is introduced. In the result of solution, estimates for dynamics of motion of waves with small number of free parameters prescribing wave configuration, are obtained. Examples of numerical calculations are presented.
