This paper presents asymptotic formulas describing the evolution of shortwave perturbations on the surface of a cylindrical jet of a viscous fluid with the radius decreasing in time. The effects of Reynolds and Weber numbers and of the initial wavenumber on the decay of perturbations are analyzed.
