Numerical analysis of viscous flow using composite grids with applications to glass furnaces (English)
0 references
The thesis is motivated by the simulation of the glass melting process. The system is described by compressible Navier-Stokes equations without energy equation, accompanied by a given temperature field. The bubbling and stirring are modeled by several algebraic relations appearing as external bulk forces in the momentum equation. The discretization is carried out by a finite difference method with pressure correction methods and local defect correction. The author presents (colored) numerical results of several simple test cases. The thesis contains also detailed study of Navier-Stokes equations in cylindrical coordinates, the presentation of correction methods in cylindrical and Cartesian coordinates, etc.
