The paper deals with the following question. For topological spaces \(X_i\), \(i\in I\), are there topologies on \(\prod X_i\) weaker than the product topology but having better properties? A typical result: for any infinite compact space \(K\) there is a normal space \(X\) such that there is no normal topology on \(K\times X\) weaker than the product topology.
