The book is devoted to the study of the dynamics and the political consequences of an electoral reform. The electoral systems that the commitment of a society to a political system characterizer is investigated. The aim of the book is to explain (in the example of Italy) to the reader the peculiarities of an electoral system which assumes significant importance in periods in which democratic politics seem to be caught between a crisis of confidence in their representative systems and mass apathy over the product of the government. The authors analyse the change of electoral rules in Italy from proportional representation toward plurality.
