The diffraction of a shock wave at the curvilinear interface of transversely isotropic elastic media (English)
0 references
The authors investigate the diffraction of shock wave which passess through a curvilinear boundary separating two transversely isotropic media. In such a situation, quasitransverse and quasi-longitudinal shock waves are produced. To perform the analysis, the authors use the zeroth ray method. The difficulty of the considered problem lies in the fact that in anisotropic medium the rays are not longer orthogonal to the phase front, so that Snell equations become more complicated than for isotropic medium. The authors derive approximate solutions and present them graphically. The results are applied to a particular case when the curvilinear surface is ellipsoid and the two media are dolomite and sandstone.
