The optimum non-conical and asymmetrical three-dimensional configurations (Q2761324)

The author considers the motion of a body with constant velocity in a medium. It is assumed that the force with which the medium acts on an element of the body surface depends only on the orientation of the element with respect to the direction of motion. The author author proposes a method for constructing non-conical spatial bodies of minimal drag. It is shown that the force affecting the optimal body has no components in the plane perpendicular to the direction of motion.
