Separatrix crossing in the dynamics of a dual-spin satellite (English)
0 references
Using the adiabatic approximation, the authors study the motion of an axisymmetric gyrostat satellite. It is assumed that the platform possesses a dynamical symmetry with respect to the shaft, and the rotor has a triaxial ellipsoid of inertia. The authors discuss fast and slow crossing of separatrix by the system, and derive formulas for probabilities of various outcomes of the satellite evolution.
