Contacts in multibody systems (English)

The authors present a short survey of investigations carried out at Munich Technical University on the contact mechanics. The following models are discussed: a woodpecker toy, gear rattling, a turbine blade damper, landing impact of an airplane, and an assembly process. Finally, the authors discuss some modern theories of contact mechanics, and give a list of open problems.
