The author deals with natural oscillations of mechanical systems whose behavior is described by the generalized boundary value problem NEWLINE\[NEWLINE \begin{aligned} &(p(x,\lambda)u')'+ f(x,\lambda)u = 0,\quad u(0) = u(L) = 0,\\ &0<c_1\leq p,\quad f\leq c_2<\infty,\quad 0\leq x\leq L<\infty,\quad \lambda\in\Lambda. \end{aligned}\tag{1} NEWLINE\]NEWLINE He cites expressions for eigenvalues (frequencies) and functions (forms) with the required degree of preciseness with respect to negative powers of the order number of the mode. The results of investigations of some applied problems are presented.
