Problems of maximizing the compliance of curvilinear rods (English)
0 references
The authors discuss the design of a support element with maximal compliance for artificial crystalline lens. To this end they propose a model of thin curvilinear rod of constant cross-section and specified length. It is shown that the corresponding boundary value problem for nonlinear Euler equation admits a set (possibly denumerable) of solutions. One of these solutions realizes the absolute maximum of compliance, while the others the local maxima.
