The authors address polynomial Lienard systems and some quadratic systems. A nonlocal method is proposed for the estimation of the number of limit cycles that is based on the application of the Dulac function [\textit{L. A. Cherkas}, Differ. Equations 33, No. 5, 692-701 (1997); translation from Differ. Uravn. 33, No. 5, 689-699 (1997; Zbl 0911.34026)].
