Bodies with favourable pressure gradient and reduction of the hydrodynamic drag (English)
0 references
This paper deals with axially symmetric aerodynamic forms of minimal drag. It is shown that for slender bodies the curvature effects can considerably change the boundary-layer characteristics. An estimate of total drag of slender bodies is obtained. The author proves existence of forms with negative pressure gradient. The obtained forms show once more that Schlichting's principle of pressure increasing downstream the maximum thickness point is not obligatory.
