Solitonic brane world with completely localized (super)gravity (English)

This papers considers a four-dimensional brane (three spatial and one temporal dimensions) being embedded in a five-dimensional spacetime. The latter is assumed to satisfy the Einstein-Hilbert action with a negative cosmological constant plus a Gauß-Bonnet term. For a special value of the Gauß-Bonnet coupling the gravitational field becomes completely localised on the brane. This is different from most other brane-world scenarios in which gravity is the only interaction that can spread out from the brane into the bulk. Here gravity is localised because the only normalisable Kaluza-Klein mode is the zero-mass four-dimensional graviton. The model can also be embedded into a model containing supergravity. The authors finally speculate about a possible realisation of their model within string theory and about potential phenomenological consequences.
