Finite deformation analysis of geomaterials. (English)

In this paper the authors present a finite element formulation and implementation for finite deformations of an hyperelasto-plastic material. The developments are based on the multiplicative decomposition of the deformation gradient into elastic and plastic parts. A consistent linearization of the deformation tensor with Newton method leads toward an efficient numerical algorithm.NEWLINENEWLINEThe presented analysis describes accurately the behaviour of dilatant, pressure sensitive, isotropic and anisotropic geomaterials subject to large deformations. The algorithm is tested for a new hyperelasto-plastic model, denoted by \textbf{B} material model, which is a single-surface model with uncoupled cone portion and cap portion hardening. The developed formulation and implementation were used to simulate large deformation tests on sand, performed under very low confinement.
