Centrality and normality in protomodular categories (English)
0 references
In this paper the authors study the relationship between the notion of centrality for congruences in a Mal'cev variety, introduced by \textit{J. D. H. Smith}, and the notion of normal monomorphism in a protomodular category, introduced by the first author. The key ingredient in establishing the link is a notion of `connector' between two equivalence relations on the same object, which is closely related to the notion of pregroupoid introduced by \textit{A.~Kock}.
