On the role of imaginary elements in 19th-century geometry (English)

In this paper, the author is concerned with the role of imaginaries in geometry. The titles of the sections, namely, ``Imaginaries as ghosts: Poncelet and Steiner'', ``Staudt's theory of imaginaries'' and ``Imaginaries after von Staudt: Lie and Klein'' indicate the approach he has taken to give a detailed survey of the topic. This fills somewhat, a gap in the historical studies on classical nineteenth-century geometry.NEWLINENEWLINEFor the entire collection see [Zbl 0970.00008].
