Contravariantly finite subcategories and adjunctions (English)

The paper under review shows that contravariantly finiteness of subcategories is always preserved under the left adjoint functor of an adjoint pair of functors. A similar result is obtained for covariantly finite subcategories when some conditions are imposed on the adjoint pair. Some applications to certain extensions of algebras and to covering theory are given by the author.
