Some applications of the Mallows metric to the bootstrap (English)
0 references
The bootstrap method was introduced by \textit{B. Efron} [Ann. Stat. 7, 1-26 (1979; Zbl 0406.62024)] as an alternative to estimate biases, variances and the construction of confidence intervals for various statistics. The Mallows metric was used to justify this method. In this paper the author proves some inequalities for the Mallows metric and uses them to justify the bootstrap approach in the case of independent polynomial experiments.
