Completeness and continuity. On the foundations of differential and integral calculus. (English)
0 references
This short book provides a stimulating and well written introduction to the foundations of differential and integral calculus of real-valued functions of one real variable. It is directed towards secondary school students in the final year (and their teachers) and aims at supplementing the teaching of the technical and applied aspects of calculus with the more abstract and theoretical aspects in order to enhance the basic understanding of why calculus works. Central notions in the exposition are completeness of the set of real numbers and continuity of functions.
